Why The Good New

The more I learned about sustainability in fashion, the more conflicted I felt. I love feeling like I struck gold, found a loophole around buying tons of expensive clothes while still hunting for fresh pieces, like I finessed a cool deal outside of the system.. but can’t un-know what I’ve learned about how destructive fast fashion is to our earth, economy, and the lives of our neighbors. When I love a piece, I want it to live on past its time with me— through clothing swaps with friends, online consignment, second-hand shopping and selling. Through social media, I’ve had a running dialogue with strangers and friends about what we’re each getting into, outfits I’ve put together that you guys like or pieces you want for yourself; this got me expanding my pieces into your closets. It’s the coolest way to give our beloved staples another life with people who feel the same, people like you.

It’s fun to get something new. A cool clothing item becomes a part of your lifestyle vocabulary and can hold a direct tie to identity. It’s really fun when that feels good, and does good.

So our mission statement is simple: we want to curate cool pieces for cool people, so you can delight in something new while investing in the life-cycle of existing pieces. The game is intentionality. As we navigate our individual awareness of the power of our dollar, we want you to be able to choose donating to charity AND getting a new item you love.

All the charities your purchase goes to are vetted for strong efficacy towards good causes. All these pieces I have personally discovered, styled, and believed in: some are one-of-a-kind, some are cheeky and accessible, and some are investment staples. They all hold history; It’s up to you to give them a future. We want to see how you style your Good New pieces and what these pieces look like in your world, and in your voice.

LOOK GOOD, DO GOOD.
