About
WHO
Two friends, lifelong thrifters, "magnetic" scene partners. We love to do stuff together, from weekend thrift haunts to photography pizza nights, to crafting gifts for our crew to slumber parties at the Korean spa. So now we still thumb through clothing racks and play mix'n'match and take pictures of pizza nights, but now we also laptop on the couch together and package cute parcels to send you. From our creative collaborators to our business management, The Good New is brought to life by women. Won't women do that.
WHAT
It’s fun to get something new. A cool clothing item becomes a part of your lifestyle vocabulary and can hold a direct tie to identity. It’s really fun when that feels good, and does good.
These are all pieces that we've personally discovered, styled, lived with: some are one-of-a-kind, some are cheeky and accessible, and some are investment staples. They all hold history; It’s up to you to give them a future.
We want to see what your good new pieces look like in your world, in your voice.
WHY
There's nothing like the feeling that you finessed a cool deal outside of the system.. We can’t un-know what we’re all learning about how destructive fast fashion is to our earth, economy, and the lives of our neighbors.
When we love a piece, we want it to live on past its time with us— through clothing swaps with friends, online consignment, second-hand shopping and selling. Through social media, we've had a running dialogue with strangers and friends about what we’re each getting into, outfits put together that you guys like or pieces you want for yourself; this got me expanding my pieces into your closets. It’s the coolest way to give our beloved staples another life with people who feel the same, people like you.
So our mission statement is simple: we want to curate cool pieces for cool people, so you can delight in something new while investing in the life-cycle of existing pieces. And we also get to channel our passion for curating secondhand pieces into support for life-changing work in undersupported fields.
Also, there's a disease called FSHD, it's a form of Muscular Dystrophy and they're so close to a cure. Proceeds from every Good New item goes to support research in developing a cure, as well as helping improve the lives of those affected.
HOW
The game is intentionality. We want you to be able to choose making the world better AND getting a new item you love. The work that your purchase supports are vetted for strong efficacy towards causes that are near and dear to each of our hearts.
Our shipping materials are eco-friendly, and we aim to repurpose as much stuff as possible to keep everything that's new to you just like, good.
Look good, do good,
THE GOOD NEW
